Open Source PBX
Open Source PBX products account for a significant market share of the PBX systems sold worldwide. Eastern Management Group was the first research company to report that open source PBX accounts for a significant percent of the entire PBX market in North America. Because open source PBX software is free, unified communications applications can be delivered to an SME (Small Medium Enterprise) for a fraction of the cost of a proprietary PBX. Eastern Management research shows that inexpensive open source PBX systems are used in 154 countries.
There are millions of free open source PBX downloads each year. Manufacturers, service providers, VARs, systems integrators and IT departments then fashion inexpensive PBXs from open source software for a fraction of the price of a proprietary PBX.
Open source PBX accounts for as much as half the sales of several SIP phone manufacturers. PBXmanufacturers and resellers of gateways, cards, servers, security appliances, GUI, distributions and VoIP providers all benefit significantly from the millions of open source PBX seats sold.
